Tues. Apr. 25.
Rode up to Sonoma to sow grass-seed. Left south end + started on Leighton p[addock] doing Corner Spur, part of "1st burn" + part of Leighton Spur. Had a very trying day on acc. of large extent of the burns, + returned home very tired. Mr. Herd + John returned to Hastings + Wgtn [Wellington] respectively today. This evening Mrs. Herd + Maud put their heads together to compile a "Bimba List" of clothing as my beloved wife has expectations of an event in November - God take her safely thro' it all!
