Stuckey's Side swept, right down past footbridge into Kay's. Walked over to Top p[addock] + logged up, stoked fires + piled pungas on extension of Ohau Flat. After dinner fired fern + logs on Rochey-toe, Skyline, Foxtail + Main Spurs + then fired old heaps of logs + wineberry on Ohau Summit. Everything very dry + burned well. Walked along east b[oun]d[ar]y fence + found it smashed in one place by fallen rata. The fires have swept the northern slpoes of Trunk + Leighton Spurs + the rough places at junctions of "1st" + "2nd" burns at top of Leighton Spur. Continuing I found the NE corner of "1st burn" well swept + fairly well cleaned up - there are good clearances of logs all over "1st burn". A few battens burned off b[oun]d[ar]y fence. Had a talk with Mrs. Tress before going home + found that they had had a bad time during Saturday nights gale - they had to stay up till 3 am to save their house, their haystack was burned + a very large area of grass. My whare was burned before they returned from town on Saturday night.
