Thurs. Feb. 17.
Went over to Combine Spur + found Grange had started scrubbing - then went to South Block + met Father + Gilbert - we refired fern etc. in SE corner + also upper part of East Creek valley. At 3.15 Father + I fired the heavy scrub by Grange on flat be Ohau + East Creek outlet + got a very good burn - the conditions were perfect, cloudless sky, hot sun + good breeze. As we were finishing Will + Maud came over to have a look, Maud performing the feat of climbing up the steep face by the Ohau on to the Bracken Knobs. Will returned to Prouse's where he is staying, after tea.

In evening logged up in Mill p[addock] my moonlight + got some good fires going, Maud assisting.
