We decided to spend the day up here to rest. But Clif rode up with a note from Mother to say that she had to go to Wgtn [Wellington] for an operation on Tues. next + asking us to go down to see her. Stayed to dinner + tea - visited our house, asbestos lining in dining-room + hall nearly complete. Harvey McCalman to tea - took two photos [word underlined] (1/2 pl[ate]), group under wattle + a familygroup. Drove back to North Block by dark.
