Overview
Thurs. Jan. 6.
Clif + I drove my 24 steers up to North Block. Father + Andy followed + we mustered ewes + lambs on 100 ac[re] p[addock] + Mill p. + drove them down to Cheslyn Rise for shearing. The mustering was easy but we had considerable difficulty on first part of Gladstone Road owing to dense growth of scrub alongside. Home at 7. This year the ewes are in much better condition, also their wool. There was only one waster ewe, + it died leaving the live all active sheep. The lambs are all good + no culls, though there are a few small young ones. We mustered 352 ewes which with two known stragglers + one Kay shore, leaves only 15 missing + dead this season: 8 rams, one ram missing at last moment. In evening filled woolshed with ewes (116) + left rest of sheep in yards.
