Up at 5.45 - breakfast 6.30. Saw Maud off to Hastings on the 7am train + then caught the 7.16 train to Levin. Raining at Levin - Clif met me with trap. On reaching home found shearing in progress, so waded into dagging in woolshed, pressing wool, etc. The three Morgans cut out the night pen by midday + will not go on with the job till after Xmas. Moved stock + started erecting the rough shed by my house in near 42. The house is progressing slowly - weatherboarding, rusticating + gable boards have been put on in my absence + the

dining-room + kitchen chimney started.
