Wed. Sept. 29.
Up early. Walked up to "1st burn" + repaired east bdy [boundary] fence. Walked along hilltop + mustered ewes + lambs from "2nd burn" + Ohau Summit down towards 100 acre p[addock]. Storm of heavy rain. Found that Jack had arrived so we drove the Leighton p. ewes + lambs from Ram p. to sheep-yards + docked lambs, 108, (ewes 130) = 83%. I left 6 ewes + 7 young lambs on Leighton p. Put sheep back on same + after dinner rode up

to 100 acre p. east fence + went on battening. After Jack left I filled in hollows under the fence with earth. Put a steer off hill in Mill p. making 32 (got full count) + 7 steers into Ram p. - these are rather poor + badly want a lift. Rode home for the night. Westerly wind.
