Lovely clear morning. Up to east bdy [boundary] fence finish splitting posts, trimmed + carried them out + put 7 in. Ran out + strained up barbed wires from near big rimu on line to opp[osite] top Leightons Spur, fixing ends of wires temporarily to stop cattle while we clear line (about 4 1/2 chins [sic] remaining) along SE side of "1st burn". A little poor black + white steer missing in Mill p[addock] searched but could find no trace. Home for the night very tired, only to receive a very angry letter from Maud about my proposed change of plan of house.
