Overview
Wed. June. 9.
W. Broughton, Andy + I went on crutching the hoggarts [sic] in woolshed. Gilbert started to interfere with the orders Father had given me + when I told him to desist called me such foul names that I knocked him down, of course there was a great row about it but Father ruled that we were both to blame so nothing came of it. Later in the evening I told Father of my talk with Mr. Herd, + asked for a proper lease document for the North Block - he granted this but would not give me a lease of sec[tion] 42 (100 acres) which I am some time to take over at £35 per ac[re]. However he is to let me have 38 acres to start with + is to guarantee me another £500 with Dalgety + Co. so that I can build on Sec. 42, marry + settle down say by Feb[ruary] next. I was very pleased + satisfied by this arrangement + feel very much indebted to Father for his kind help + treatment.
