Overview
Mon. Feb. 8.
Bulliman lifted 7 more of the £8.15.0 fat bullocks running on Stewart p[addock]. Father, Andy + I rode up to South Block + shepherd the wethers. The Intake p[addock] is breaking in splendidly since the winter scrubbing + burn. Mustered 27 bullocks

and drafted out 11 to take home. I left the others at ford + rode up to North Bl [block]. Went up to 1st burn on hilltop to look for the 4 missing steers. Found one dead on track on "burn" - one of the whitish reds (£2.4.0 lot), a good steer + no apparent reason for death. Found the red + white (£2.4.0 lot) + brought him down to Mill p. Saw no trace of other two steers. In evening fixed a post + board "block" on top of cliff above Ram p. to stop ewes getting down to same. Mr Tress came down in evening + later his youngsters arrived together with the two young lady visitors (regular minxes), one dressed in very ragged man's clothes, and asked me for a job.
