Rode down to Levin sale. Read in "Dominion" position of voting:- Govt [Government] 38 Opposition 29 Labour 8 Undecided 5 (including the 4 Maori electrorates), so there is still a chance of the Govt. Three opposition victories may be converted. Rather dull sale :- Ewes (2-tooths) shorn, passed at 14/3. Heavy fat ewes 23/-. Shorn 2-tooth wethers 11/6 to 17/9 21/2 y[ea]r bullocks £5.14.6 Fat cows £5.15 to £8.2.6. In the naval battle in the Pacific a British Squadron under Vice-Admiral Sir F. C. D Sturdice sank the German cruisers Gneisenau, Sharnhorst [sic] Nurnburg [sic] + Leipsic [sic] + is pursuing the Dresden.
