Rain during night. After breakfast, met Mr Tress (at 7.15am) to decide on position of the 5 chains of bdy [boundary] fence which I am to erect on hilltop. On acc[ount] of a small deep gully a slight deviation from true line will be necessary + we agreed on a line as follows

Found a hinau strainer post + there is a hinau + a totara available for posts. The new line

will require a lot of clearing. Pulled foxgloves along north edge of 1st "burn" on hilltop + also on spur running up to old N[orth] E[ast] corner of N[orth] Bl[ock]. After dinner at whare started pulling foxgloves on lowest flat in Leighton p[addock] - heavy rain commenced 1.45 - worked till 3.30 + got wet through. Home for the night.
