Father, Cliff + I rode up to South Block - mustered 120 ewes off Terrace p[addock] + docked 122 lambs, passing 8 as too young. Put this flock on Intake p. After dinner we rode over to North Block + mustered most of the ewes + lambs off South end + put them on Mill p. for a fews days change. Father thought my ewes and lambs very good - he was also pleased with my sheep-yards. Today Grange finished cutting out bush on top Leighton's Spur - he will now work south from top of Trunk Spur. Tremendous Russian victory - Austro-German armies crushed 180,000 prisoners taken. The recent battle of the Marne in France has been described as the "greatest battle in history, fought + won".
