Anstice + I rode up to North Block. Knocked up 170 battens from the slabs split some years ago on eastern extremity of Ohau Flat. Carried them out along the Ohau R[iver] fence + started putting them on. Met Alf Anderson + a mate coming out from back bdy [boundary] of the block where they had just killed a big boar - the three dogs they had with them had some nasty rips as a result of the battle. Mother, Uncle Percy + Harry returned to Wgtn [Wellington] to-day.
