Got ready to go up to North Block but rain came on so Anstice + I worked at pipe-drains in CK p[addock]. The main pipe drain was on laid for part of its length last year + has got badly chocked with mud + a curious fibrous growth. I dug down to the pipes at intervals of 3 yards, removed a pipe + by means of a long supplejack cleared out the intervening sections. At midday

the weather cleared so Anstice + I rode up to North Block to camp. Started cutting track thro[ough] bracken on upper part of Skyline Spur + along benched track but only got in a couple hours work, the rain recommencing.
