Overview
Fri. June. 26.
Cold frosty morning. Edwards came over at 7 am to see about a steer which had got into Mill p[addock]. After breakfast we helped him get it out driving some of mine up to his yards + on return put remaining 3 steers on Mill p. with others in south end. Then rode up to Ohau Summit. Carried out rest of battens + put them on east bdy [boundary] fence, thus finishing job. We found we had 58 rimu battens over which will do

for continuation of fence next year. As we finished work we found the steer (see Wed. last) in bush + let down the temporary end of fence got him over - this makes 35 steers on south end + one on Kay's. Took tools down to the 100ac[re] p. east fence which we are to erect next. Read "The Fortunes of the Landrays" by Vaughan Kester - a most interesting tale.
