Rain during night and fine morning. Anstice + I rode up to North Block to camp. A rain shower from south chased us up to whare but weather again cleared. Mustered 31 of the 34 steers of Mill p[addock] + put them on south end of block. Rode up to Ohau Summit - ran out last wire as far as the still standing bush + strained up - then carried a temporary fence at right angle to bdr [boundary] running west over the hill-top ridge for 2 or 3 chains finishing in a mass a dense fern - this makes this end of the block cattle proof. The steer I left on this end has again gone into the bush, so he is now fenced out. Strong gusts blew from south all day - sky clear. On return to horses found that old Togo had come up on his own. Windy wet evening.
