Uncle Bert + I rode up to inspect the North Block. I took a photo (1) of the bridge over the Makahika showing about 26 of my steers. We had a look at the whares, stable + mill site + then rode up Leightons Spur to the "burn". I took three photos on the "burn" (2) one looking towards the bush to be felled this year + showing Uncle Bert (3) another of my self on a huge pile of partially

burned logs + tree-tops + (4) a general view looking N[orth] from near top of Leightons Spur. We crossed the "burn" + went along Styles boundary to have a look into Canyon Creek (where Uncle Bert once worked some years ago). Rode back to Mill p[addock] + returned home via West Low Hill, Ohau Flat + little Ohau gate. Uncle Bert was much interested in the place + gave me some valuable tips. Miss Hurley to tea - drove to Church in the evening.
