Overview
Sat.May.2.
Cold south-westerly wind with rain. About 10.30 Anstice + I rode up to the North Block to move my ewes + rams across the river from Stuckey's side of the Mill p. to the main part of same. As over 300 sheep have been on Stuckey's side for 9 days, it is now well eaten out. Heavy rain came on after we had crossed the ewes, so we went into my whare + I fixed the piece of sheet iron in front of fireplace to do duty as a hearthstone. Later in the afternoon we jacked out the hinau uprights of the old mill - these will make strainers + posts for my Sheep-yards. Rode down to Levin in evening - cold night + very few people about.
