Father, Jim, Anstice, + I rode up to North Block - went to whare for tools + rode up to "Ohau Summit" via "Mann Spur" to cut line for east boundary fence on the hilltop. We started at the deviation strainer on the "Summit", + worked north, through masses of unburned tree-tops + supplejacks for the most part, but got on well + finished clearing line as far as the corner just beyond which we stopped felling the bush last year. After work Father + I went ahead to see how fence is going to run in bush still standing + found that it first runs east + then curves again to the west. On way home [page break] I cut back the cliff at new entrance gate on Gladstone Road in order to let the gate swing further back but did not finish job. Home after dark - drove down to meet 7.47 train + Maud who has spent day in Otaki - we did some shopping together + had supper at Williams' tea-rooms.
