Overview
Fri. Apr. 3
After breakfast Anstice rode down to Kay's whare to get an auger while I cut the two patches of Californian thistle + rode up on to Leighton p[addock] to see ewes + rams. The former are looking splendid + seem to have grown + the three rams I saw were travelling round among the ewes very briskly. Spent rest of morning hanging gate at new entrance on Gladstone Road. After lunch at whare we blocked each end of the old road - this completes the fencing in of the mill p. + at last I get the grazing for my own stock. Usually there are about 40 of Kay's heifers on these flats which seem to be a favourite grazing ground. At 3 pm we went over to the "Ohau Flat" + cut two
