Father went up to Palmerston to order earmarks for me and grass-seed for "burns" on North Block. The earmark allotted to me is as follows: - [sketch here] The grass-seed as follows:- 80lbs best mixed to do 3 acres per acre for remaining 23 acres as follows: 8lbs cocksfoot @ 7d per lb. 6 " Per[ennial]. rye @ 6/9 per bushel. 4 " It[alian] rye @ 5/6 " bushel. 4 " Crested dogstail @ (say) 1/- " lb 2 " Timothy @ 6d " lb 2 " Poa pratinsis @ 11d " lb 1 1/2 " Chewmys fiscue @ 9d " lb 1 " White clover @ 1/4 " lb 1 lb Trefoil @ 7d " lb Total 28 lbs per acre to cost 16/3 per acre. + worked at Ohau River fence. After dinner we fired remaining patches of cut scrub on East + West Low Hills, on the Foxtail Spur + on the Upper Ravine Spur. Back to fence - got in strainer at little gateway + three -corner posts - very bad sinking, boggy with boulders + solid rock - we also improved track from gateway to riverbed - a successful day.
