Heavy rain during night but fine morning. Gil, Jim, Anstice + I rode up to North Block to finish scrubbing on hilltop. On arrival on "Ohau Summit" the rain re-commenced, but we got a start during a lull. But the rain came on thick so we retired. Before going home I went round to the whare on Mill p[addock] + cleared it out ready for camping in at the end of my next holidays when I intend sleding [sic] timber lying round old mill site into stables for preservation. Very cold during afternoon. Mother + Father returned from Wgton [Wellington] by evening train.
