Jim, Gil, Anstice + I rode to South Bl[oc]k to shepherd ewes – plenty of feed + lambs + ewes looking well. Mustered the 5 straggler steers + brought them home. On way whither crossed Ohau + went up to new sawmill on Kay’s + along the tramline into bush – the line follow the Makeretu + then turns up a tributary on left bank to hauler situated ¾ mile beyond Kay’s boundary. On reaching home I found that I had lost my pup Scott who is just beginning to work + whom I thought had gone on with others. Spent afternoon finishing as much of the pipe-drains in the SE corner of CK p[addock] as we intend doing just now. In evening rode UR [up river] to find Scott but saw no traces of him.
