Father, Jim, Anstice, Gil + I rode up to North Block. Gil + Anstice went on cutting battens for the east boundary. Father, Jim + I continued felling bush (the thin wedge end of the hill top block). We found that the junction of the new east-boundary line with the old one is con-

siderably further south than we expected – nearly opposite the big rata on Ohau Summit. This is probably due to the old block line being west of the old true east boundary. In evening cycled down to see Maud + spent pleasant evening – Mr Herd has bought a farm in the Hawkes Bay District, 3 ¼ miles NW of Hastings. They go up there in about a week’s time.
