Steady but fairly light rain all day. Heavy rain after dark. Clare + I drove down to a “surprise party” at Bartholomews picking up Mrs Cork (who got up the affair) en route. In spite of rain a large crowd turned up – dancing the whole evening. I had three suppers + managed to fill in time. The party was in honour of Miss Flora McDonald who is be married shortly. The affair did not break up until the objectionable hour of 2 am – bed at 3 am. (Took photo of Mt Waiopehu (misty) + Stewart p[addock]).
