Jim + I rode up to North Block to cross-cut + clear some big logs off my benched track up hill. First we cut a small hinau strainer for a little entrance gateway. I am making it at the end of Andrew’s

first length of fence on the Ohau. The big logs on the track (upper part) were hinaus + we managed to clear them out of the way. Returned to the narrow east end of “Dirty Flat” + made a couple of crossings over small streams. A hive of bees in the log we wanted to use prevented us from making a crossing over the bigger stream which divides the low from the upper hill. Jim left for home at 3.45 – I rode over to the Mill p[addock] + found that 85 or so of the hoggarts we took up to Leighton’s p. last Tuesday had got out through small hole in fence – with Mr Kay’s help I got them back. A log of pig-rootings on “Dirty Flat”, where the grass is splendid for cattle. Home at 6.15. In evening developed last Thursday’s photos – all most successful.
