Fine morning but heavy rain at church time so stayed at home. Read "The Glad Heart" by Madame [Albanesi?]. Did some sets of photos for Lawrie + Mr Edwin James. In afternoon walked back to foot of Arapaepae Range near McDonald Road + took a couple of panoramic views of levels (flood-plains) in young coastal plain; also a panorama of the flood-plains of Koputara Stream looking north. On return home took some snaps of Dora + phaeton. Church in evening - Mr. McBain of Manakau preached or rather gave a fine address on the text, "And there shall be no more sea" - an intellectual treat - Father said it was no gospel sermon although he enjoyed it. Saw dear Maud after service + had a few longed for moments with her.
