Showery morning – up at 5.45 – rode up to North Block on “Fanny” to cross the wethers to Leighton’s p[addock].  Met Mr Kay + his cadet + they helped me to get the wethers across river + up terrace.  Had

breakfast near mill + then returned home.  Mr ES Lancaster came to make arrangements for a trip across the Tararua Ranges to find route for a stock road from Levin to Eketahuna for the Levin Chamber of Commerce.  Dipped 843 of Kirkcaldie’s sheep.  Father + Mr Martin Simcross of Otaki rode up river to value UR block.  The afternoon turned out sunny – dipped 262 of Uncle Bert’s sheep.  Jim + I also split + trimmed posts for CK-Swamp p. fence.  Clare returned from her Masterton holiday.  Developed 12 more plates in evening – some excellent results.
