An easy day so slept in. After breakfast when round to a motor-garage + got permission to repair camera-stand the top screw of which is worn out. Rebored hole + renewed thread, fitting in a layer + stronger screw – successful job. About 11.0 cycled u to the “Spa” to see Crow’s Nest etc. Found guide returning with part by the turned back with me. The “Spa” exhibits are small + second-rate as compared with those of Wairakei – excepting the Crow’s Nest + Waipiparangi Geysers. There are tiny champagne pools, dragon’s mouths, porridge pots, steam vents etc.

The guide lest me to take photos – took one (77) of the cone (about 10 ft high) of Crow’s Nest Geyser with two little girls on it to show the size. While waiting for the Crow’s Nest to go off, Waipiparangi shot in fine style – 30 or 40 ft high. Got a good photo (78) of Crow’s Nest in eruption – it kept going for about 12 minutes – a very pretty display – the water goes up obliquely. Left “Spa” after paying 2/- guide fee + crossed bridge over Waikato on the Taupo Rotorua road + took two views (79 + 80) of the Waikato where it leaves Lake Taupo. Had lunch near outlet. In evening wrote to Maud giving account of travels up to date.
