Sat July 26.
My 25th – received from my dear little girl a lovely painting of scene on Norfolk Broads, England; + from Gil + Clif a pair of maul rings + a wedge. Father, Gil, Jim + I rode up to North Block – Father + I walked to top of hill (NE corner of block) to measure north edge of bush) now being felled + decided on 10 chains. Walked through bush to Grange’s job to inspect – he is getting on well + seems to making a good job. We then all mustered the 180 UR ewes (these are looking fine) + took them to South Blk [Block]. Decided on line for the new fence which is to divide the Terrace p[addock] (S.Blk) into two parts. Took the 4 Romney “UR”

rams home. After tea rode to Levin + was vaccinated by Dr Bryson – then down to see Maud, spending a lovely evening with her – we do love each other so much, but I cannot decide for myself if I am in a position to ask here to become engaged – as I’m to take up the North Block from Father on March 31st next perhaps I am – God guide me.
