Jim + I rode up to North Block to commence a graded (benched) horse-track from the “dirty flat” to top of hill. The dense scrub – tall fern, etc matted with huge lawyers – made it very hard toil, + many logs had to be cut through – we did two ch[ai]ns of track along flat, three up hill (finished) + three more cleared but not benched. Dead beat by knocking off time. Miss Gladys + Dorothy Cork + Miss Wilson came to tea + spent evening – Ralph also dropped in – played games + retired early in a very feeble state. To-day Laing started top-dressing McDonald p[addock] with 3 cwt of basic slag + Kainit per acre.
