Infernal westerly gale all day. Started clearing SE corner of CK p[addock] – I went on with CK – Cow p. giving lambs another cut of turnips. Received letter from Maud with bad news that Mr Herd has sold his Bruce Rd farm + that the family is to leave for Wgtn [Wellington] at end of August – what shall I do.
