Took a lot of stock to sale to-day + struck a great storm en route – heavy rain, hail + wind but got shelter under Prouse’s big hedge. Anstice + I drove down lambs + big sheep + returned + returned to help Jim with cattle. We sold everything as follows: – 30 store ewes + wethers @ 10/9, 11 wooly [sic] Shrop[shire] lambs @ 9/1, 14 shorn lambs at 9/7 + 8 fat bullocks at £8. Father bought 51 store lambs at 6/6. Waited in town to take Maud to after-

noon tea but she didn’t arrive + later I heard that she had caught a cold. Read “The Long Road” by John Oxenham – a fine tale.
