Overview
Phylum Bryozoa (Lace corals)
Bryozoa are poorly known aquatic animals which are found worldwide. Sometimes known as "moss animals," colonies of minute individuals (each usually less than a millimetre) form lacy encrustations on rocky surfaces, shells, algae or wharf piles and ships,
which may range from a few millimeters to several meters in size.
Te Papa’s collection of bryozoans comprises about 1200 specimen lots, of which eighteen are name-bearing types.
