Overview

This child's Chinese jacket is made of scarlet coloured silk with embroidered flowers. It has a beautiful blue embroidered high collar and fastens with ties at the right seam under the arm.

The jacket is part of a set of Chinese clothing worn by Betty Campbell when she was a child living in China with her parents who were missionaries there. Betty became a significant Wellingtonian and national community leader. She received a MBE for her ceaseless community work.
