Overview
This costume was made by Jane Holland for the soloist Precious Clarke who performed the karanga at the beginning of the Rugby World Cup ceremony in Auckland, 9 September 2011.
The costume consists of beautifully made and authentic elements, such as the hand-carved whalebone heru (hair comb). It showcased both Maori culture and New Zealand costume design to the world.
Jane Holland is an experienced costume designer who has worked on both film and television projects, including 'Xena: Warrior Princess'.
