Overview
Paper made from rags of cotton or linen. The general process of making rag paper involves boiling, shredding, and beating the rags to separate the fibers; the resulting smooth pulp is run over a fine screen in a thin layer and then dried and pressed. Rag paper is considered the finest paper support for paintings and similar works of art.
