Algae Nova-Zelandicae Exsiccatae: 14 Fascicles - Victor W Lindauer

Topic

Overview

The Algae Nova-Zelandicae Exsiccatae (ANZE) is a collection of 14 fascicles each (originally) containing 25 sheets. Victor W. Lindauer created and distributed 60 sets of these between 1939 and 1953. Lindauer was New Zealand's seaweed expert of the time.

The ANZE have served as a valuable reference set of New Zealand algae for taxonomic studies in New Zealand and abroad since their distribution.

Collections for the ANZE were made by Lindauer himself, along with his pupils, family members and, notably, Mrs Eileen Willa of Stewart Island, who collected 85 of the 350 specimen sets.

Collections were made from all over New Zealand, although the East Cape of the North Island and West Coast of the South Island were notable exceptions.

Images of these specimens are displayed under the 14 separate Fascicles below.
