Torrential rains during night + heavy showers to-day. Rode up to Sonoma - moved ewes from Mill to 100 ac[re] p[addock]. Saw all of the 52 steers:- 1 in Kay's 2 missing in Mill p. had got into Top p., moved 48 from 100 ac[re] to Top p. + left one in 100 ac. p. All the steers, except a couple of the youngst Holsteins a little poor, are in good condition. Among the ewes I noted only two or three crocks, but the ewe lambs look rather small this year. Started digging drain on flat in NW corner of Leighton p. to form a dry track leading to Grange p. gate; also cut hinau log for bridge over drain.
