Worked in garden + drove to Levin sale. Drove home via Koputaroa taking altitudes: - Levin PO aneroid 103', corrected (103') 2.36pm. Kawiu Road 112' (108') 2.40, Dip in Avenue 118', (113') 2.45. Heatherlea Cross Roads 174' (163') 2.55. Junction Tavistock Raod 45' (24') 3.14. Koputaroa Rly Stn [Railway Station] 48' (25') 3.17. Junction Kop[utaroa] Stream flood-plain + sandstone on Tavistock Rd 60' (33') 3.28. Bridge over Kop. Stream near Creamery 75' (46') 3.35. Tavistock-Arapaepae Rd Junction 78' (49') 3.36. Broadbells' front gate 86' (56') 3.38. Visited Mr Broadbell + he showed me his artesian well (of which I have a record) + I made the altitude of its site 58' above sea-level. Bubbles of inflammable gas were escaping from the first + now corroded artesian pipe that was put down, a couple of feet from the present well. Heatherlea-Arapaepae Rd Junction 110' (73') 3.56.
