Overview
Thurs. Aug 22
Rode up to Sonoma - moved ewes + steers from 100 ac[re] to Mill p[adock]. Found the missing steer - on a ledge of steep bank of Deep Creek just inside Mill p. - has been there
[page break]
24 days without food + water - bark of saplings within his reach stripped + eaten - cut a track up the gully + got him out - very low in condition but may live. The broken-legged steer is mending + will probably recover if it can get enough feed. This makes 50 steers in Mill p. + 2, which I didn;t see, in Top p. Found one ewe with twin lambs, bogged + dead in stream near Camp Spur - took wool. Spent rest of day finishing clearing bracken of Leighton-Grange p. fence-line. Lambs are farily numerous + look good. Grass very scarce excempt in Mill p. Read "The Girl Phillipa" by Robt Chambers.
