Rode up to Sonomoa. The traffic bridge over the Makahika has now commenced building by day labour. Rode up to top of Leighton

Spur + restarted the fires on future fence line + in heaps of timber near by. At midday inspected bdy [boundary] fence on east side of "1st burn"+ found a big rata over it. Moved fence to one side + fired the rata in two places, logging up all round to it. Drizzly afternoon + steady rain all night. Viv to tea + spent evening with us.
