Sat. Mar. 23
Rode up to Sonoma early - mustered the ewes + rams in Mill p[addock] into Ram p. Saw the 26 steers in Mill + 26 (including 1 of Kay's) in 100 ac[re] p. - no sign of the missing one in Top p. Moved the ewe lambs about 83 from 100 ac. p. to Top p. Rode round east bdy [boundary] fence - tree over it near Ohau Summit, + a big rata over at Top Leighton-Grange p. fence line had burned fairly well but were reasonable for the fallen rata. Rode home about 12.30 + drove to Levin in gig - had Silvermane shod + met Maud + Nancy who arrived by the Napier train. Good see them again. Red Triangle afternoon in Levin. Returned early + had a very happy evening with Beloved. Maud tells me she has expectations for November next.
