Father got in his 353 2-tooth ewes + drafted out 235 of the best for his own use. I then picked out 20 of the remaining 118 at 32/6 per head - these included 11 of own breeding, 8 of Fathe's ditto + one of Martin's. Drove the 20 up to Sonoma + pt them on 100 ac[re] p[addock]. Shepherded the 24 steers + 13 rams in Mill p. Clare motored Clif + I down to the 4.40 pm train for our week in Wgton [Wellington]. On arrival trammed up to the People's Palacehotel + put up there. Walkeddown town

drizzly evening + watery sky -fish tea at the at the Continental Cafe. Visited Public Library + finished up with a grape juice ice cream soda at a Marble Bar in Manners St.
