Gloomy threatening day with strong wind. Rode up to Sonoma. Mustered ewes + lambs in 100 ac[re] p[lot]. into sheep y[ar]ds + picked out wooly [sic] stragglers out of Leighton p., 8 ewes + 9 lambs = 14 ewes + 14 lambs.This leaves me only one ewe missing.In pmI went over the whole of Leighton p. pulling foxgloves for the second time.This was a killing job on acc[ount] of big area traversed in so short a time + the dense fern, but did good work in preventing a large number seeding.Drove two lots of shorn ewes from yds to top p.Also drove ewes + lambs on lower part of Leighton p. to hilltop via Crescent Spur.The growth of bracken this year is tremendous +

considerable areas have gone back so much as to be impossible for sheep + not too good for cattle. Found 3 steers had got from Top to Leighton p. + put them in Mill p. Driving rain started at 6.pm + wet me through. Home about 7 dead beat.
