Ronald law + I drove down in the care to the 10.50 am train to meet Father but he did not arrive till 11.40 by the Napier Express. He was accompanied by Uncles Will, Rob, Percy, + Frank. The last came up to Cheslyn Rise with us, the others staying in town. Dinner at Cheslyn Rise. At 1.15 drove in car to Rly [Railway] Station. The funeral started at 1.35. Father, with self on right + Clifford on left, followed the hearse on foot, the uncles including Harvey walking behind, + traps + cars containing friends coming last. A large number of beautiful wreaths, crosses, etc,

from friends completely covered the coffin. At the Cemetery the uncles acted as bearers. Rev. Abbey conducted the Service. Clifford + I lowered a tray of flowers from Mother s own garden on tot eh coffin after it had been placed in its last resting place. It was very very sad to realize that we should never wee our dear Mother again. When all was over we returned to Cheslyn Rise. I went over to Woodside for Maud + Nancy + so had a large family gathering. Uncle Frank, Aunt Edie + Ron Law were present. We spent some time in looking at the numerous albums of photos of days gone by + the evening passed cheerfully.
