White frosts but still no snow on ranges. I rode up to Sonoma moved 4 steers on to Mill p[addock]. Went on clearing logs + timber off Leighton-Top p. fence-line doing 6 ½ chns [chains] which is as far as I intend erecting the fence at present - total of 10 chains. Cut a good hinau strainer for this fence, on Main Wedge Spurt + managed to get it across intervening gully to fence-line. The steers on Top p. are clearing up the fern especially on Upper Ravine Spur.
