Tues. Oct. 31.
Fine day with sleety showers + snow falling on ranges. Worked at punga pergola. Maud helped me measure out orchard + I put in the corner strainer. Maud + I drove down to sale - visited the Abbeys + saw Roxie [???] who is progressing splendidly + is a lovely little thing. Dinner in town. In A+W's yards bought as I thought, a line of seven yearling steers at £6 but later found that they had been knocked down to someone else. Drove to Lancasters for Maud + then home. George helped me saw firewood in far 42.
