Fine morning. Rode up to Sonoma - mustered 8 of the 10 rams back into Ram p[addock] from among

the ewes in Mill p. the gale having blown the gate down. Rode to hilltop via Leighton Spur + went on clearing + mending east b[oun]d[ar]y fence alongside "1st burn" - very slow work on acc[ount] of large amount of debris - boughs, trunks + tops, etc. - which had to be cut + moved. During afternoon weather became stormy again + by evening a strong east wind with driving rain was raging. The Tararuas are now covered with a deep mantle of snow.
